This policy explains what we collect through kerrysinsurance.com, why, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.
What we collect
When you submit a form. Our quote and contact forms ask for your name, email address, telephone number and ZIP code. Depending on the form, we may also ask your age, whether you have used tobacco or nicotine in the last twelve months, the type and amount of cover you are interested in, whether you currently hold cover, and anything you choose to tell us in the message field. The quote form lets you attach a declarations page or similar document.
We ask for age and tobacco use because they affect how insurers rate a policy. We do not ask for medical information, Social Security numbers, or financial account details through this website. If those are needed, they are collected later, directly by the insurer, on their own secure system.
Automatically. Our web host records standard server information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the time of your visit. Form submissions include the IP address they were sent from, which we retain as a record of consent.
Cookies. The website does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. WordPress sets a session cookie only for logged-in site administrators. Two embedded services may set their own cookies, described below.
Why we use it
- To prepare and deliver the insurance quotes you ask for
- To contact you about your request, and about a policy once you hold one
- To service existing policies — changes, renewals, claims, billing
- To keep records that insurance regulation and our own professional obligations require
- To protect the website from automated abuse
- To meet legal obligations
Who we share it with
Insurance carriers and wholesalers. To quote your cover we send the relevant details to the insurers we think will fit your situation. This is the core of what an independent agency does — we cannot shop the market without it.
Service providers. Companies that operate parts of the website and our communications on our behalf: our web host, our email provider, and:
- Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from a person rather than a script. Cloudflare receives your IP address and some browser characteristics.
- Google Maps, embedded on our contact page. Loading that map means Google receives your IP address and may set cookies.
When the law requires it. Regulators, courts, or law enforcement acting under proper authority.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
How long we keep it
Quote requests that do not become policies are kept for two years, then deleted. Records relating to policies we have placed are kept for as long as insurance regulation and our professional obligations require, which is generally at least five years after the policy ends. Documents you upload to the quote form are removed from the website’s server automatically after they have been delivered to us.
Security
Traffic to and from this site is encrypted in transit. Access to our email and agency systems is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send medical details, Social Security numbers or account numbers through the website — call the office instead.
Your rights in California
If you are a California resident you may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we shared it with
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Limit how we use sensitive personal information
- Opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information — we do not sell or share it, but the right exists regardless
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email [email protected] or call 661.273.8800. We will verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming details we already hold. You may use an authorised agent; we will ask for proof of their authority.
Some of what we hold is governed by the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which applies to insurance agencies. Information collected under that Act is treated differently under California’s privacy law, and separate notices apply to it. Ask us and we will explain which category your information falls into.
Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above.
