Home / Commercial insurance
Cover the business you built.
General liability, property, commercial auto and workers’ compensation for contractors, shops and trades across the valley.
Most small business owners we meet are carrying either a policy written for a company half their current size, or a general liability policy doing work that a commercial auto or workers’ comp policy should be doing.
The core policies
- General liability. Third-party injury and property damage. Almost every commercial lease and most job sites require proof of it.
- Commercial property. Building, tenant improvements, equipment and stock. Read the co-insurance clause — underinsuring here reduces every claim, not just large ones.
- Commercial auto. A personal auto policy generally will not respond to a vehicle in business use. Trucks with tools and ladder racks need this.
- Workers’ compensation. Required in California from the first employee. Rates hinge on class code, and miscoded payroll is the single most common overcharge we find.
- Business owner’s policy. Bundles liability and property for many smaller operations, usually below the cost of the parts.
Trades we write regularly
Contractors and subcontractors, HVAC and plumbing, landscaping, auto repair, retail and restaurants, offices and professional services, light manufacturing, and trucking. If you hold a CSLB licence, we can also handle the contractor’s bond.
Certificates of insurance, same day where we can. If a general contractor is holding up your start date over a COI, call rather than email — it is usually a ten minute job.
What we will ask for
Annual revenue, payroll by role, a description of operations, any vehicles, and your loss history. Bring your current declarations pages if you have them — comparing like for like is the only way to know whether a lower premium is actually a better deal.
